Drake’s New EH244 Encoder Host Chassis provides additional features and reduces operator cost

Designed to house Drake MPEG2 or MPEG4 standard definition and high definition encoder modules, the EH244 reduces overall operating costs by increasing the number of QAM modulated outputs. Taking advantage of Drake’s efficient “direct to QAM modulation technology”, the EH244 provides 4 adjacent QAM channels that are agile from 54MHz to 1002MHz. Customers may utilize all six of the EH244’s input slots with any combination of SDE24 dual SD or HDE24 single HD encoder modules. The increased flexibility of the EH244 allows customers to manage both bandwidth and video quality by optimizing bit rates with the number of programs per QAM multiplex instead of limiting the number of modules installed in the chassis. The EH244 is available with QAM only or with QAM and ASI outputs. In addition to front panel controls an Ethernet port is provided for easy web page setup and remote management.

Now with the capacity to encode 12 SD streams or 6 HD streams to QAM in a single 2RU package, Drake’s EH244 provides the ultimate solution for high quality, low cost MPEG 2 or 4 video encoding and meets federally mandated Emergency Alert Standards (EAS).
