SPRINGBORO, OH / April 17, 2017 / R.L. Drake, together with Blonder Tongue, will bring more than 140 years of combined engineering and manufacturing excellence with solid histories of delivering reliable, quality products to the 2017 NAB Show, on April 24-27, in Booth # SU7521, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
PEG Broadcast Support
R.L. Drake will demonstrate its new PEG PLUS, an MPEG-2 or H.264 digital video PEG channel encoder with a single SD/HD-SDI, or Composite Video and L+R audio input, and an IP output via a single SFP Ethernet port. A separate RJ45 10/100 Ethernet port is provided for control and monitoring. PCM-embedded audio encoding can be processed to either Dolby® Digital, MPEG1-Layer2 stereo, or AAC stereo. The unit is capable of outputting resolutions of 480i, 720p, and 1080i.
Broadcast Quality IP Video Distribution
The PEG PLUS is available with a Zixi output protocol option, to provide the ability to stream HD content over unmanaged networks, including the open internet. The Zixi option is an UPD-based video-optimized protocol to allow Professional Broadcasters, Sports Networks, and Service Providers adapt to the public internet using standard IP networks as a way to ingest and transport broadcast quality video.
Digital Signage HD Encoders
R.L. Drake will showcase two digital signage HD encoder options for the attendees at 2017 NAB Show. The newly released DSE24A is a single channel HD encoder with RF QAM and IP outputs. This unit encodes an uncompressed video source from devices with HDMI (non-HDCP), Component, Composite or VGA sources. The DSE24A encodes the incoming video to MPEG-2, and then it is internally connected to a QAM modulator and low-noise upconverter.
R.L. Drake’s DSE 2 PLUS is capable of MPEG-2 or MPEG-4/H.264 encoding up to two uncompressed programs from HDMI (non-HDCP), Component, Composite or VGA sources to a single multiplexed RF QAM output.
Both the DSE24A and DSE 2 PLUS are each noteworthy choices for distributing video over legacy coaxial networks, while providing instant access to an extensive network of digital displays, capable of viewing valuable ad-based, or informational video in a vibrant HD format.
Scalable Encoder Host Series
R.L. Drake will also demonstrate its EH244 Series encoder host, an ideal platform for MPEG-2 or MPEG-4/H.264 video encoding needs, due to its many flexible configurable output options. Each unit is designed to house any combination of Drake’s popular HD or SD encoder modules.
The EH244 has a total of six (6) input bays and an internal multiplexer that allows users to construct custom program multiplexes, and output them in any combination from RF QAM, ASI (transport stream) or IP, based on the output configuration order.
Customizable Channel Configuration
Any of these module options can also be used in Drake’s MEQ1000B Hybrid QAM Modulator.
Drop and Add with MEQ1000B
R.L. Drake will showcase its MEQ1000B, the industry’s most accommodating commercial-grade Multiplexing Hybrid QAM Modulator, that fulfills the need when a single QAM output is required. The platform provides the convenience of local or remote web-based management for any of the input module options.
• ASII: ASI Input Module
• DTD1000: Digital Tuner and Demodulator Module
• IPI1000: IP Program Acquisition Module
• SDM1000: Satellite Tuner and Demodulator Module
Each unit hosts two bays allotting for a customized combination of the input module options to cover a variety of applications. The MEQ1000B allows you to build custom QAM channels from up to two diverse sources to give cable operators the best utilization of bandwidth.
Video content from both modules enters the main chassis where it may be MPEG program-filtered, multiplexed, and groomed. Any number of program streams can be sent to the QAM modulator for output and/or exported via the MEQ1000B’s additional ASI output.
