SPRINGBORO, Ohio — September 13, 2016 — R.L. Drake, today announced that together with Blonder Tongue Laboratories, will bring more than 130 years of combined engineering and manufacturing excellence with solid histories of delivering reliable, quality products to the 2016 SCTE ISBE Cable-Tec Expo, on September 27-29, in Booth # 1252, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
PEG Access Television Product Support
R.L. Drake will highlight its new PEG PLUS, an MPEG-2 or H.264 digital video PEG channel encoder with one (1) SD/HD-SDI, or Composite Video and L+R audio input, and one (1) IP output via a single SFP Ethernet port. A separate RJ45 10/100 Ethernet port is provided for management and control. PCM-embedded audio encoding can be processed to either Dolby® Digital, MPEG1-Layer2 stereo, or AAC stereo. The unit is capable of outputting resolutions of 480i, 720p, and 1080i.
The PEG PLUS is available with a Zixi output protocol option that provides the ability to stream HD content over unmanaged networks, including the open internet. The Zixi option is a UPD-based video-optimized protocol enabling professional broadcasters, sports networks, and service providers to adapt to the public internet using standard IP networks as a way to ingest and transport broadcast quality video.
Broadcast Quality IP Video Distribution
R.L. Drake will concurrently showcase its ND-24-IP, a low-cost professional MPEG-2 and H.264 network decoder that is capable of receiving content from off-air, clear QAM, and IP sources. The ND-24-IP outputs video content in HD-SDI, HDMI, and Component formats. The unit features a liquid crystal display (LCD) front panel setup and easy-to-use management controls through IR expansion port or an IP web-based user interface.
The ND-24-IP can be used as a desktop unit, or rack mounted with two across 1RU. A Zixi Link license is available for point-to-point links, ensuring the highest quality picture, by way of bandwidth optimization, error correction, and packet loss recovery.
Drop and Add with MEQ1000B
R.L. Drake will showcase its MEQ1000B, the industry’s most accommodating commercial-grade Multiplexing Hybrid QAM Modulator, that fulfills the need when a single QAM output is required. The platform provides the convenience of local or remote web-based management for any of the input module options.
Multi-Solution Edge QAM Platform
Each unit hosts two bays allotting for a customized combination of the input module options to cover a variety of applications. The MEQ1000B allows you to build custom QAM channels from up to two diverse sources to give cable operators the best utilization of bandwidth.
Video content from both modules enters the main chassis where it may be MPEG program-filtered, multiplexed, and groomed. Any number of program streams can be sent to the QAM modulator for output and/or exported via the MEQ1000B’s additional ASI output.
Hotel Guide Channel Solution
R.L. Drake will highlight its custom Hotel Guide Channel, controllable by the room’s TV remote, allowing guests to easily find their favorite TV content through grid-based listings. By logging into the web-based GUI, the operator can easily add logos, images, text, or banner ads for local advertising in the “Footer” section of the hotel guide channel. The Cable operator customizes the “Header” section of the hotel guide channel.
Content Hotel Information Carousel (CHIC) & Enterprise Edge Guide (EEG)
The Guide Channel allows a content Service Provider to offer a custom flip-page hotel-guide channel for a Hotel’s unique channel-lineup, giving the hotel opportunities for branding and revenue by local ad insertion. The Guide Channel offers eight (8) channel listings per flip-page display, and can be displayed on TV’s without set-top boxes. Guide source data is QAM modulated for RF delivery over hybrid fiber/coax plant to the Hotel.
